Unlock the Power of Appellate Case Law with Your Free “Case Law Starter Kit”!
Are you in a child custody battle and feeling overwhelmed by family court? This free eBook contains 4 Sample Appellate Case Decisions – to get you started on learning case law in your state. This is a game-changing strategy that helped me get custody of our son.
Why This Matters: A big part of the reason I got custody of our son is because I read over 100 appellate court decisions. Initially, my judge gave temporary custody to the mother for no legitimate reason…and I knew it was wrong. But I realized judges have to follow the precedent and guidelines set by the appellate courts above them. By reading these appellate decisions myself, I learned the criteria to be used in child custody decisions. I saw exactly how my judge was doing it all wrong. And I prepared my 28 hours of testimony to meet the criteria established by the appellate courts.
My Unexpected Outcome: By reading all these appellate court decisions, I became smarter than the judge and lawyers in the courtroom. I started running circles around them with my testimony and knowledge of the best interest factors. If I did it, you can do it, too!
What You’ll Learn: Family court appellate decisions are surprisingly easy to read - each one is a brief (usually around 3-5 pages) story about another family’s custody case. These stories show you what matters in court and what doesn’t, helping you build a stronger case. With this eBook, you’ll:
Read Four Sample Cases:
Illinois (Jameson v. Williams, 2020) – 13 pages
Oregon (Aguilar v. Badger, 2020) – 4 pages
New York (Eschbach v. Eschbach, 1982) – 3 pages
New York (Felty v. Felty, 2013) – 3 pages
Gain Confidence: Discover that you don’t need to be a lawyer to read these decisions.
How to Use This eBook:
Read these 4 cases so that reading case law becomes real for you instead of a theoretical exercise. I just want to get you started…even if these aren’t from your state.
Then go to google scholar to find cases in your own state. I teach you how to search for and use case law in Episodes 10. Please review those Episodes when you read these 4 cases.
Follow the general guidelines:
Judges can only follow cases from your state…not other states. There are 50 states with 50 sets of appellate decisions.
Not every case will apply to your situation, and that’s normal. But keep reading - even the irrelevant ones will make you smarter.
